In this article, hip hop pioneer and legend, KRS One expressed his views on politics and society today. KRS was a positive influence in the hip hop community during a time where crack-cocaine took over urban cities such as the Bronx, New York. KRS brought awareness to societal issues such as police brutality with the hit song “Sound of da Police,” rapping lyrics like “The overseer had the right to get ill/ And if you fought back, the overseer had the right to kill,” and “The officer has the right to arrest/ And if you fight back they put a hole in your chest!” In this interview, KRS is asked his views on today’s politicians seeking to become the nations next president. He had nothing negative or demeaning to say about the up-rising politicians. He simply pointed out that we have to keep in mind that these are politicians who will say whatever to gain the vote of the black community. He continued, saying just because a politician mentions #BlackLivesMatter in a speech doesn’t mean they are addressing the issue and bringing forth ideas or policies that would decrease the killing of black lives during their presidency.
McDonald’s will be ending their iconic Dollar Menu deals. This change will now introduce a two for two dollars deal, where customers can get previous dollar menu items in pears of two for two dollars. Personally I think it makes perfect sense. From a business standpoint, this is the best way to get customers to buy more for what seems, and really is, a good deal. This also makes McDonald’s look like they are giving great bargains. Without the Dollar Menu, those items that were on that menu will have higher prices if customers do not use the two for two deal. With the Dollar Menu, customers are inclined to buy one item for a very cheap price. What I wonder is what precedent will McDonald’s be setting for other fast food companies? If this concept of two for two dollars becomes a money saver, how many other companies will end their version of a dollar menu? “These new McPick 2 offers are just the start and are part of a broader value platform grounded in what our customers are looking for—choice and flexibility,” McDonald’s spokesperson Lisa McComb said. For the most part it seems that people are pretty upset about this change. The Dollar Menu thrived off of simplicity. Customers do not want to think any more then they need to. In the end I think people will still flock to McDonald’s like they always have, no matter how the menu items are arranged and no matter what deals are changed.
“In my view, the time is long overdue for us to remove the federal prohibition on marijuana,” Sanders said ”In my view, states should have the right to regulate marijuana the same way that state and local laws now govern the sale of alcohol and tobacco.” This is what Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders said to the people at George Mason University in Virginia two weeks ago. Sanders has been very up front with how he feels about America’s laws on marijuana and plans to change them if he is elected President.
He has not gone as far to say he will fully legalize marijuana, but he is He is closer than any other candidate to doing so.
It’s also a bit of change of mind for Sanders, who said in an interview with Yahoo! earlier this year that marijuana is a “gateway drug” that can lead to heroin and cocaine use.
Sanders’ plan will leave drug policy to the states. They could keep their prohibition or legalize marijuana if they want to, without interference from the federal government. That would mean marijuana businesses could have full access to banks and other financial institutions, and individuals would be immune from arrest and prosecution for simple possession. However, he said he would still allow federal law enforcement officers to arrest and prosecute illegal marijuana traffickers. Today, people and businesses face prosecution by the federal government, even in places like Colorado where state law have legalized the drug.
I think Sanders plan is an interesting one and is getting closer to what I believe will happen in the next 10-15, maybe 20 years which is that pot will be legal in America just like alcohol and tobacco. I am all for the legalization of marijuana as long as alcohol and tobacco are legal I believe pot should be categorized the same as alcohol and tobacco and regulated the same way. It will be interesting to see if it will become legal soon especially if Sanders is elected President.
Recently there was a planned Isis bombing attack in Paris. Days after that there was a bombing in Syria. These bombings are senseless and make people more afraid that at any moment they can be the target of some terrorist attack. All together there were about seven planned terrorist attacks in Paris. Two of those bombings took place at a soccer game and a concert. At least 130 people died that day. When looking back at all the events that took place there, I get more and more upset. These were all places where kids spend ample time. What is the purpose of all this senseless killing? In a recent 60 minutes’ episode, there were two witnesses who sat outside a restaurant while having coffee when a gunman ran up. One of the gentlemen stated that he saw the gunman approach him and he tried to remain calm because he figured if he freaked out he would get shot. He continued to say that the gunmen were professional and that it looked like they did this before. Instead of just killing everyone, the gunman began to pick out people one by one as if they were targeted already. An act of such disgust is obviously a sign of hatred. No one has a right to take anyone’s life away. More organizations such as Mothers Against Senseless Killings should be formed to educate others and with hope ultimately put an end to tragedies such as the ones that took place in Paris, Syria and the rest of the world.
Well it was about two weeks ago so I am going to assume he’s no longer in the hospital but we are going to talk about it anyways. An old man caught up in an international scandal ends up in the hospital due to stress related issues? Who would have thought? Is that not the most surprising thing you have ever heard? In other surprising news, birds fly, fish swim, and cars go vroom vroom!
As the US Job market experience a rather significant increase in the past month, 271,000 jobs in October, Asia experience uneven gains. While the Australian market had minor drops, the S&P fell 1.33% to 5145.70. But in Japan, Nikkei went up 1.61% to a peak of 19,580.66. The rational given for this drop in Japan was that the improvement in the American job market cause an increase in the American dollar, which over took the Japanese yen causing improvement or Japanese companies who sell things overseas. South Korea’s market had the smallest drop at .34% bringing Kospi down to 2034.81 points. BHP Billiton, a Sydney-listed mining company had a bigger drop off with 3.5%, though that has more to do with a Brazilian accident that proved Fatal in an iron mine. In China, there was a rise at the Shanghai Composite, up 1.74% to 3,652.59 points. However, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index, experienced early loses and was down to 0.07% to 22,846.13. A lot of this has to do with imports in China falling 18.8% over the past year. This was coupled with exports for the massive economy plummeting 6.9% in the same time. China International Capital Corp debuted in China and went up as high 6% for a great first day. All of this interests me because the fact that an accident in Brazil coupled with an increase in US jobs can result in massive personal losses in Australia. The interconnectivity of the global market is both fascinating and terrifying.
With recent world issues the FBI has made is an appoint to improve ways In which we identify threats amongst peers. To do this they decided to use a website but were surprised when other religious groups responded by saying that It targets religious extremism. 4 out of 5 of religious parties’ representatives found that it potentially, more likely than not, cause problems socially for children raised in backgrounds similar. A point that was addressed that I found to be the main reason for the lack of prioritization is that the real threat at this time is gun violence and our efforts should be put towards identifying these patterns within the people involved in cases prior. Altough I do agree individual education is necessary to prevent these issues however I think what’s more important is that the information be pertinent and raise consciousness, not promote targeting and stereotypes. It’s really a Not-this-again scenario at this point
In this article, a man in Ohio faces charges for soliciting the murder of U.S. military members. Terence McNeil used his Facebook, Tumblr and Twitter to cheer on ISIS attacks. On these posts, he wrote Anti-American comments and pro-bombing remarks. These comments however were all protected by McNeil’s first amendment; freedom of speech. What Terrence did get in trouble for was re-posting private military intelligence listed by ISIS as intended targets. This case is part of the U.S. efforts to silence ISIS recruitment of members. Before ISIS’s leader was killed by U.S. troops, 250 members were reported as newly recruited ISIS members. Post-death, the recruitment of ISIS members has dramatically declined.
This past Friday, a series of coordinated terrorist attacks took place in the capital of Paris, France. The attacks were claimed by the extremist group known as ISIS the following day, and now the French airforce has returned in engagement with several bombings on operating ISIS territories in the Middle East. There were six different areas attacked during the barrage of chaos, with at least 128 innocent civilians and 7 ISIS members dead.
Today Instagram announced its marketing Partner Program that highlights 40 companies in advertising, analytics, and community management that it recommends brands work with.
These will give big brands and advertisers the technical firepower necessary to run huge optimized ad campaigns, track exactly what type of content is popular with their account’s followers, and moderate comments from spam to customer service requests. That in turn will inspire them to spend more, and pump Instagram full of better content, even if some of it is paid promotion.
