Idea for the NFL Draft.

Over this past weekend the NFL draft took place in Chicago for the 2nd year in a row.The years prior it was tradition for the event to take place in the Radio city music hall in New York City. The recent change in venue has prompt me to prepose this idea for the future of the Draft. My idea is this” What if you draft was always hosted by the Super bowl winning city? this way the season would end and begin in the same place and further celebrates that teams accomplishment of winning the big game. When the Draft was constantly in New York I always agree with that tradition of it being in the same place every year. but if the NFL will now removing around a bit more I think this could be a nice change for the league. Any team that homes an NFL Franchise would more then likely have a indoor venue in its city like the radio music hall of New York that could house this event. It would also make it easier for fans of different teams to have the chance to attend a draft at some point in their life.in recently reason the Draft fan attendance has been dominated by Giants,Jets and Eagles fans while being in New York and of course obviously Bears fans the past two years in Chicago.By Rewarding the Super Bowl winning city with the honor of hosting the NFL draft would be a win for all involved it would make every years event seem different and unique.

UFC Superstar Conor McGregor Finds himself out of a fight come July 9 when UFC 200 takes place

UFC Superstar Conor McGregor was bounced out of UFC 200 coming up on July 9 because he didn’t comply with UFC President Dana White’s rules. McGregor felt he had to do too many public appearances and travel too much to promote for his fight vs Nate Diaz who choked him out in the 2nd round of UFC 196 back in Marc. McGregor feels he’s made too much money for the sport and has put them on a national spotlight and feels he has done enough to promote for this fight, but Dana White disagreed and said McGregor knew his obligations for this fight and deliberately disobeyed and now has to pay the consequences.
There has been a lot left unsaid between Conor McGregor and Dana White between their disagreement on UFC 200. I believe Mr. White really wants to see McGregor vs Diaz 2 and he knew it would be a great money maker for his company but he had to draw a line for his athletes. You invite fighters to come fight at your event and you set the boundaries and the rules and they have to comply with said rules to participate in your event. I believe Mr. White set his rules and clearly made them and Mr. McGregor simply thought he was bigger than the rules because his last 3 fights had made money making records. Male testosterone has been the focal point of millions of arguments and issues throughout time. I, personally would love to see Nate Diaz make Conor McGregor tap out again, but it won’t happen because UFC President, Dana White stuck to his guns against his sports superstar and I respect that.

ESPN Releases a 30 for 30 on the mid-90’s Orlando Magic and it brought back good and bad memories as an old fan

I was born in the middle of 1991,just months before the Orlando Magic drafted one of the greatest players the NBA has ever seen, Center Shaquille O’Neal out of LSU. At the height of their mid-90’s success saw The Magic reach the 1994 NBA Finals, just to be swept by the Houston Rockets. I would say they were one of the most popular and talented teams that never won a title. With Shaq leading the way, The Magic traded Chris Webber to the Golden State Warriors in return for a few 1st round draft picks and also their next super star by the name of Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway.
Orlando had key role player such as The Magics first draft pick ever, Nick Anderson who was my favorite player when I was little. The had sharp shooter Dennis Scott, Horace Grant, their current head coach, Scott Skiles among other talented role players. I was only 3 to 5 years old when the Magic were at their best, but I remember all those players and remember being an absolute die hard Orlando Magic fan. I had a Nick Anderson jersey and Shaq’s signature shoes so it was cool to see ESPN shine a light on the guys I idolized as a little kid.
ESPN showed a lot of clips of the players around Downtown Orlando in the 90’s and it made me reminisce on the old days and the huge buzz that surrounded the Magic. It was Orlando’s first professional sports team so the people had something to get excited about besides Disney World. It seemed as though they rose to the top so fast, but they fell even faster. After the 1996 season the Magic lost their super star, Shaq O’Neal to the Los Angeles Lakers and the city was devastated. As an example, my 5 year old self threw away my Shaq shoes and rooted against him until I was much older. Even though I was very young, the memories are vivid and I tip my hat to ESPN for a very well done documentary.

Tennessee Titans trade No. 1 Draft Pick to LA Rams, a Possibly Costly Mistake for the Rams

The St. Louis Rams gave up their No. 2 draft pick in 2012 to the Washington Redskins. This was a smart choice because the Redskins ended up nabbing Robert Griffin III who flopped after a stellar rookie year and is now no longer a Redskins player. But this year the now (again) Los Angeles Rams have done the opposite of what they did in 2012, they took a No. 1 draft pick from the Tennessee Titans. It doesn’t sound so bad but they gave up so much that it could possibly ruin the franchise. To earn this pick, they had to give up their first round pick (#15), two second round and one third round picks. The Titans will also receive the Rams first round and third round picks for the 2017 draft. The Rams also received a fourth and sixth round pick from the Titans. But they Titans received a much better deal. The Rams are desperate for a good quarterback and are basically willing to possibly destroy a franchise to get one.

The Golden State Warriors tie the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls all time record for wins in a season at 72.

I bet 20 years ago if you asked someone if there would ever be another team to record at least 72 wins in one NBA season they probably would have called you crazy and told you there would never be another Michael Jordan and there would never be another 95-96 Bulls team again as long as basketball will be played. Well, they would have been wrong, the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors tied the 95-96 Bulls record of 72 wins tonight with a 92-86 win over the 2nd best team in the NBA, San Antonio Spurs.
Warriors superstar Guard Steph Curry is having a Michael Jordan-like season averaging 30 points per game, 6.7 assists, 5.5 rebounds per game and also 2.1 steals per game. Curry has already shattered his own single season 3-point field goal record of 286 which he set last season. This year Curry has made 392 3 pointers and has a chance to make 400 in one season, I don’t think people understand how absurd that is! There has been constant talk about how this years Warriors team would do against the 95-96 Bulls. The old timers seem to think the Jordan lead Bulls team would easily beat the Warriors but there really is no comparing.
The NBA has changed so much in the last 20 years, they call more fouls and player these days don’t seem to be as rugged and tough as the players of the 80’s and 90’s. On the other hand players these days seem to be more skilled with the ball in there hands and better at shooting 3’s. It’s very tough to compare the 15-16 Warriors and the 95-96 Bulls, but there is no denying these are 2 of the best regular seasons we have ever seen from NBA franchises and if the Warriors can run the table and win the 2016 NBA Finals then there will be no denying that they will go down as one of the top 2 NBA teams of all time.

Kansas City Royals Opening Day Flag Raising and Downing New York Mets Again

Kansas City has been on fire the past few years. The Chiefs have had a winning record that past three seasons beginning in 2013 after going 2-14 in the 2012 season. Sporting Kansas City Soccer won last years US Open Cup, claiming their third Lamar Hunt trophy after their 2012 win; the women’s team FC Kansas City won back-to-back National Women’s Soccer League championships. But beyond all those the Kansas City Royals proved they, among the other teams of the city, are no fluke after winning the 2015 World Series over the New York Mets. That momentous occasion came after a devastating close game 7 loss to the San Francisco Giants in their first World Series appearance since their first World Series win in 1985. The redemption was that much sweeter after reaching the world series back to back and claiming their second ever world championship 30 years after they beat the Cardinals in 1985.

Baseball Season is back and I’m hoping my Chicago Cubs can bring home a World Series Championship for the first time since 1908

It is very hard being a Cubs fan. I have never seen the Cubs play in a World Series and I have been a die hard fan since 1997. I can only imagine the people who have been watching the Cubs lose every season since the 40’s or even longer. I’m sure there are plenty of 70+ year old fans have been much more disappointed than me over a much longer period of time.
With all that being said I do believe the Chicago Cubs have the best team in baseball this season. That does not mean they will bring home the title, that simply means they have the best players and Head Coach in the game right now. But, if you know baseball then you know it is the streakiest sport out there and often times the team that gets hot in the playoffs usually wins the World Series and not always the team with the best players. Vegas gave the Cubs 4-1 odds to win it all this year, which is more than two times better than the next best team at 9-1. This makes me very nervous because that is huge expectations for a team that has been without a title since 1908.
Jake Arrieta is the Cubs ace pitcher who won 22 games in 2015 and won the Cy Young award for best pitcher in the league. They added outfielder and a big time hitter Jason Heyward this off season along with utility infielder Ben Zobrist who was a key player for the 2015 World Series champs The Kansas City Royals. These additions among others add to an extremely talented and young roster with players such as 2015 NL rookie of the year, Kris Bryant, big hitting 1st baseman Anthony Rizzo, along with the power hitting catcher Kyle Schwarber and plenty of other key players such as Veteran Pitcher John Lackey make the Cubs a big time favorite. They won 97 games in 2015 and made the wild card playoff spot coming in 3rd place in an NL Central Division with 2 of the other best teams in baseball (Pirates and Cardinals). They beat the Pirates in a 1 game playoff then beat the Cardinals in the Divisional round before being swept by the Mets in the NL Championship Series. The entire Cubs nation says it every year but this really could be “our year”, let’s take the title back to the north side of Chicago boys!
